Special Fruits….Legume fruits are simple dry fruits that open along a seam on two sides. A common name for this type of fruit is a pod. When the pods open they reveal peas, lentils, beans, soybeans and more. A well-known legume is the peanut, although commonly called a nut. Legumes are consumed by livestock, usually in the form of alfalfa or clover, and by humans in the form of various grains. Legumes are often eaten raw or cooked and are used in salads, soups and stews as well.
